Why do You Need Antaira ConnectVPN?
In certain industrial applications, remote devices needing to be configured, monitored or have data collected may be tucked behind simple NAT routers, like the router in your house that connects all your devices to the internet. To gain access to devices behind NAT routers without exposing the device to attacks from the internet, a VPN is a great solution. VPNs are encrypted connections between two points where one of the two points needs to be directly accessed from the other. If both points are behind NAT routers, it is not possible to create a VPN without exposing at least one side to the internet and attacks. The cloud-based VPN Concentrator, Antaira ConnectVPN, is a hardened system that provides the accessible end which allows the remote Antaira router to create a VPN connection. Antaira ConnectVPN is then capable of interconnecting or grouping the VPN connections together in such a way that many remote devices can be accessed from one connection. In this way, Antaira ConnectVPN provides a secure connection between remote devices carrying the data encrypted across the public Internet network without the worry of exposing a system or data to hackers.

1. Remote Access - A VPN is a Virtual Private Network connecting devices using encrypted communication typically across a public network. The encryption prevents anyone on the public network from accessing the information being transmitted through a VPN tunnel allowing for maintenance, monitoring, and configuring to take place on devices networked to a connected router. Antaira ConnectVPN is a cloud-based OpenVPN server that facilitates the interconnection of both standard OpenVPN clients found on PCs and routers, as well as Antaira’s quick VPN client found on a select list of Antaira wireless routers.
2. 1:1NAT - NAT (Network Address Translation) routers can be used to conceal the identity of an IP address block being used on a network. In cases where a device in the hidden block needs to be accessed, Port Forwarding is used. When multiple devices need to be accessed, 1:1 NAT translation is used.
3. WLAN Connection - A router with dual wireless radios can act as a client to a local network for general connectivity purposes and also act as the AP (Access Point) for a temporary or alternate connection for other clients. This is ideal when a system is in place using one of the wireless connections as a client.
