APPLICATION:
Corrosion Prevention

Industrial environments can expose electronics to hazardous materials including highly corrosive gases, moisture, and debris. These vulnerabilities create a considerable risk of failure for critical networking components. In today’s market, most industrial networking equipment is not designed with this hazard in mind.
Corrosive environments are those that contain aggressive gases, moisture, debris, and/or irregular temperatures. Corrosive environments will see the most failures in networking equipment not designed and rated to work under such harsh conditions. Corrosion is the greatest enemy and threat against electrical components. It causes deterioration of the materials due to interactions with the environment that leads to unforeseeable and irreparable damage.
To determine the level of corrosiveness, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the International Society of Automation (ISA) have established a classification system for corrosive environments. Each classification has its own categories to represent the severity of corrosion in the environment. Standard: ISO 9223 - Corrosivity of Atmospheres uses C1 (Very Low) – CX (Extreme). An office condition would be considered ‘very low’, whereas an off-shore/ocean application would be ‘extreme’. Standard: ANSI/ISO 71.04 – Airborne Contaminants label their levels G1 (Mild) – GX (Severe) for mixed gas corrosions.
Antaira Technologies is proud to announce a new and advanced process of conformally coating products. This process supports many of the sought-after certifications and meets the standards of ISO 9223 and AMSO/ISA-71.04 required in toxic environments. These products have had their internal components precisely conformally coated to protect against corrosion. Conformal coating is a thin polymeric film that conforms to the contours of a circuit board to protect the board’s components from adverse environmental conditions. Antaira's LNP-1002G-SFP-T-CC and other devices are conformally coated for the highest corrosive category levels (ISO 9223: Class C5 and CX, and ANSI/ISA-71.04: Class GX for Mixed Gas Corrosion).
