BACKGROUND

Antaira Technologies has been working with an Oil & Gas company based in Texas to provide them cost efficient solutions best suited to their needs. Although based in Texas, this company is known for their acquisition and development of oil and gas assets across various North America locations. This specific project was focused on a remote oil field in North Dakota. At the time, the customer had an existing custom system that covered roughly 300-400 collection points. The proprietary, custom solution was no longer operating in the company's best interest as it was expensive and required custom software.

THE CHALLENGE

Due to the company using a customized solution on their existing application, they were incurring an annual licensing fee in order for the software to operate. This annual fee was costing the company nearly $250K a year. The individually managed 300-400 wireless nodes were simply providing serial connectivity for the central control system. The entire solution needed to be shipped and deployed within 2-3 months. Antaira worked closely with the customer to stage the solution and ensure availability.
 

THE SOLUTION

Antaira was able to provide a much more cost-effective, off-the-shelf solution better suited for their specific needs. The STW-611C was introduced as the standalone solution for this project. It has an Industrial Wireless Device Server with IEEE802.11b/g/n in 2.4GHz band that provides connectivity to clients and serial devices creating a complete solution for wireless networking. The product has an IP30-rated and compact rugged aluminum case design with a wide operating temperature that can operate between -10° to 60° C. Perfect for North Dakota’s spectacular weather! Antaira’s solution allowed the customer to justify its purchase and installation with a payback period of just six months to one year. Everyone involved benefited which is outstanding for both companies.
