Why Mobile Surveillance Systems Require Low Voltage PoE
Mobile surveillance systems are solar powered surveillance systems that can be rapidly deployed for reliable, unmanned video surveillance 24/7. Such cameras are typically mounted on high towers and provide high definition images to improve surveillance around any given area. Key benefits of portable surveillance systems include easy installation, their ability to easily communicate with a network, and the ability to operate without having to connect to a power source.
One of the most important features of a portable surveillance system is the ability to power all equipment on the system from a 12VDC battery. To do so, mobile surveillance systems require the use of low voltage PoE switches. To better understand why mobile surveillance systems require low voltage PoE, continue reading.
Low Voltage PoE Facilitates Remote Operation
Low voltage PoE switches can serve as a power source for the cameras in mobile surveillance systems, allowing them to operate in remote locations. When connected to mobile security systems, low voltage PoE switches provide power to the system and transmit data through a single Ethernet cable. The key feature of a low voltage PoE switch is the ability to accept 12VDC as its power source and still inject 802.3af/at compliant PoE power at 48+VDC. This is done by designing an internal DC-DC converter into the switch to power the PoE circuit.
Once the system and the low voltage PoE switch is connected, power can be delivered to the system without needing to hook up the surveillance system to an electrical outlet. Thus, the surveillance system can operate remotely, as it doesn’t rely on an electrical outlet to deliver the power it requires to operate.
Antaira’s Low Voltage PoE Solutions
To allow your mobile surveillance system to operate remotely, Antaira Technologies offers a wide range of low-voltage industrial PoE switches. Our innovative low-voltage PoE switches come in managed and unmanaged models and can deliver voltages between 12 and 36 volts. Depending on the needs of your system, our industrial switches include 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 ports.
In the case that you need to change the configurations of the switch, you can remotely access our managed switches and achieve a greater level of control. For those who require a simple and convenient setup, out unmanaged low-voltage PoE switches are also a great option.
